Read first

Three things before you plug it in.

Magnets inside

Motion Zero works with strong magnets. Keep it away from pacemakers, implanted defibrillators, credit cards and anything magnetic.

No metal underneath

It does not work properly on metal tables or above metal beams. Keep the base at least 10 cm away from any metallic object.

Use a proper power supply

Motion Zero needs more current than a computer USB port or a small phone charger can give. Use the optional Motion Zero power supply, or a USB-C adapter with enough power.

Setup

First spin in four steps.

The egg stands up by itself. You only place it.

  1. 01

    Put the base on a flat, stable, non-metal surface

    Wood, stone, glass or plastic are all fine. Leave 10 cm of clearance from anything metallic.

  2. 02

    Connect the USB-C cable to a proper power supply

    The optional Motion Zero power supply is the best choice. A computer USB port or a low-power charger will not drive the egg reliably.

  3. 03

    Move the Speed ball up from OFF

    The Speed ball runs in the outer groove on the right. At the bottom position the drive is off. Slide it up to a middle position to start.

  4. 04

    Place the egg on the glass disc

    Lay it down anywhere on the glass. It starts spinning, and after a moment it stands upright on its own.

Controls

Three steel balls. No buttons.

Each ball rests in a groove of the base. Slide it along the groove; it settles into the nearest position.

Mode selector · left corners

Normal or Random

The mode ball sits in the outermost groove, in one of the two left corners of the base.

Top cornerNormal. The egg spins steadily in the centre of the glass at the speed you set. Give it a nudge and it drifts back.
Bottom cornerRandom. The egg wanders across the glass, driven by 21 sensors that sample tiny fluctuations in the room. No two sessions look the same.

Timer slider · inner groove, right

From five minutes to an hour, or no limit

Six positions, from the bottom of the groove to the top. When the time is up the egg slows down gradually until it lies down on the glass.

∞ · bottomNo timer. The egg keeps spinning until you stop it.
5 · 10 · 15Short sessions. Thirteen minutes is enough to get the benefits of a meditation session.
30 · 60 · topLong sessions, or a reminder to stand up and stretch during the workday.

From off to fast

The outer groove on the right is a smooth slider. Bottom is off; the higher the ball, the faster the egg spins.

BottomOFF · THE DRIVE STOPS
LowThe egg wobbles and may fall over. Move the ball up.
MiddleThe egg stands and spins calmly. A good place to start.
TopFast, steady spin with no sideways movement.

What the egg does

Place it, and let it stand.

Meditation tip. Focus on the egg: the reflection, the movement, the way light plays over the surface. When a thought forms, notice it, watch it for a moment, and let it go. Start with a few minutes and increase the session once it feels natural.

Help

If something is off.

The egg won't stand up

Move the Speed ball higher. Check the power supply is strong enough, that there is no metal in the table or within 10 cm of the base, and that the surface is flat.

The egg wobbles or falls over

Speed is too low for the egg to balance. Slide the Speed ball up until it stands steady.

Nothing happens, or the egg is weak

Check the power supply first: a computer USB port or a small charger is not enough. Use the Motion Zero power supply or a strong USB-C adapter. Make sure the Speed ball is not at the bottom (OFF). If a timer session ended, the egg lies down on purpose: nudge it or move the Timer ball to restart.

A ball came out of its groove

Just put it back in the groove. It seats itself in the nearest position.
